I'll show you five ways in which you can easily transform your used Coffee Balls into fertiliser for your soil:
- Mix coffee grounds into plant soil before potting: While you're in the process of planting pots or garden beds, mix some coffee grounds in with the soil. This helps the soil absorb nitrogen, which is crucial for plant growth. You can add up to a litre of coffee grounds to a ten-litre pot. If you would like to mix your used Coffee Balls into your soil, first let them cool completely, then break them apart with your hands or a gardening tool before mixing them in with the soil.
- Simply pop Coffee Balls into your plant pots: Your used Coffee Balls can simply be buried at a depth of 8-10cm. From there they will supply the soil around your plants with useful nutrients.
- Use the coffee water: The collection tray of your CoffeeB coffee machine is subdivided and collects not only your brewed Coffee Balls but also residual water from the system. This so-called "coffee water" can be reused in its entirety. Mix it with half a litre of water and use this to water your plants. The coffee water acts as a mild fertiliser.
- Use compostable Coffee Balls as a snail and slug deterrent: If you grow leafy greens in your garden, it is sometimes unavoidable that snails and slugs will try to eat them. However, freshly brewed coffee can keep snails and slugs away from your vegetables! To this end, grind down freshly brewed and cooled Coffee Balls into a powder.
